I believe in the constitutional principles of limited federal government, free enterprise, private property and individual liberty and responsibility. I will defend these principles on behalf of the citizens of the state of Idaho, the West and the Nation.

In his first term, Senator Craig quickly rose to the fourth highest Senate leadership position when his colleagues elected him Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. He was re-elected to that position in the 106th and 107th Congresses. The Committee is responsible for developing policy positions for Senate Republicans.

As Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, I am working to to ensure that the needs of our veterans both in Idaho and nationwide are met. Additional committees on which I serve—Energy & Natural Resources, Appropriations, and the Special Committee on Aging—offer opportunities to shape public policy in ways most favorable to Idaho.
