Statement on Casualty in Iraq with Maine Ties (11/13/06)
Portland, Maine—U.S. Representative Tom Allen issued the following statement on the death of SGT William Samuel Jackson II, 29, who was born in Maine. Army SGT Jackson was killed by an improvised explosive device in Ramadi, Iraq on November 11. His parents lived until recently in Thomaston. SGT Jackson is survived by his wife and three children in Michigan.
“On the heels of Veterans Day, we mourn the combat death of another young American. We thank Sergeant Jackson for his bravery when his nation called upon him to serve in Iraq. My heart goes out to his wife and three young children. Sergeant Jackson’s sacrifice serves as a reminder of the constant danger faced by our troops overseas. We must never forget the sacrifices they and their families make on our behalf.”
