Many students express an interest in serving an internship in our Congressional offices. I've always placed great emphasis on helping to shape and develop young people for a lifetime of citizenship and participation. My office offers internships (unpaid) for college students in our Palo Alto and Washington D.C. offices. Duties include administrative tasks (i.e. phones, copying, faxing) as well as substantive work (i.e. researching and analyzing legislation, drafting responses to constituent inquiries and assisting with a variety of activities and projects). The enthusiasm and abilities of the intern often determine the extent of his/her involvement. While we cannot offer paid internships, academic credits can be earned. If you'd like to apply or have an interest in doing so, you can download and complete the application and get it to our Palo Alto office. Students can also contact us with a request for applications. The internship programs we offer follow the academic calendar, so completed applications should reach us at least two months before the term for which you're applying. If you have questions about the internship program or the application process, call the Palo Alto office at (650) 323-2984, (408) 245-2339, or (831) 335-2020 or the Washington D.C. office at (202) 225-8104.
