War Against Terror
Like so many Americans, I was at home preparing for work on September 11th, 2001, when I heard the terrible news and saw those horrible images, the clouds of flame that ripped a hole in the bright blue sky. I will never forget that sight - none of us should ever forget it. I am committed to fighting terror at home and abroad, ensuring that the tragedies of September 11th will never be repeated.
  • We must always remember that our government's primary responsibility is to protect and defend the American people and advance the interests of the United States.
  • Around the world, we must continue to support our allies, promote stability, foster democracy, and encourage economic liberalization.
  • The recent rise in international terrorism has threatened not only the United States' national security, but also the stability of many of our allies. Effectively combating this surge of terrorism requires us to partner with other countries, aggressively pursuing terrorists and terror-supporting states.
  • As we look toward the future we must continue to work with allies against challenges to peace and prosperity.
