Congressional Page Peter Vlazakis with Rep. Nunes (Summer 2004)

The Congressional Internship Program in Congressman Nunes' office is an excellent opportunity to learn about the federal government and public policy issues while spending a summer or semester dedicated to public service. Internships are available in both Congressman Nunes' Visalia office and Washington office.

In the Washington office, interns work closely with staff on a variety of legislative projects. Responsibilities will include conducting legislative research, responding to constituent requests, attending Congressional Committee hearings, conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol and performing general office duties.

Interns in the District office will have the opportunity to conduct research for constituent casework requests, assist with Congressional events, and perform general office duties.

Congressman Nunes asks that all interns are responsible and possess a mature, professional manner. Interns should take initiative and be well-organized and efficient.

Fill out this application and mail it to our office in Visalia to the attention of the Intern Coordinator.

Congressional Page Program

The Page Program through the U.S. House of Representatives is a wonderful opportunity for young people to learn about the legislative process and serve their country.

Pages are sponsored by a Member of Congress, but they are not employed in any particular Member's office. Instead, they work as a team on the House floor assisting all Members of Congress.

To be eligible to serve as a page, all applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time their appointment begins and have a cumulative grade point average of "B" (3.0 or 85/100) or better in all major courses to date.

Pages are accepted for two summer sessions and two school-year semester sessions. The summer sessions each last approximately one month. Pages for the summer sessions may serve during the summer before or the summer after their junior year of high school.  School-year program applicants may only serve during their junior year of high school. Pages who serve during the school year attend the House of Representatives Page School, where they continue their eleventh grade studies as well as learn about House operations.

The applications for the summer sessions are usually due in March.  The first summer session is held in June and the second summer session is held in July.  The school-year program applications are usually due in May.  Contact my district office for specific information on deadlines.

Serving as a Page is an exciting, enriching learning experience that a student will always treasure. Several Members of Congress began their careers by serving as Pages. (click here for more program information)

How to Apply for the Page Program:

  • Resume of extra-curricular activities

  • Essay (50-100 words) explaining why you would like to be a Republican Page

  • 3 letters of recommendation

All applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • 16 years of age by the beginning of your service date as a U.S. House Page

  • 3.0 or 85% GPA in the following major subjects only (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language)

Summer program applicants may only serve during the summer before or the summer after their Junior year of high school.  Fall/Spring applicants may only serve for one semester during their junior year of high school.  Outstanding students during the fall term may be considered for re-appointment for the spring term.

Return the completed application (and all required documents) to my district office for a congressional letter of recommendation by the appropriate deadline (contact my district office for the appropriate information).  Do not send your application directly to the Speaker’s Office.  The Speakers office will not accept the application.

We recommend that you keep a copy of your completed application, in case the original or any part of the application is misplaced in transit.
