WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) today announced that the City of Ozark has been awarded a $2.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to complete the final phase of a runway extension at Blackwell Field.
According to the Transportation Department, the grant will be used to provide lighting and signage for a taxiway and extend the existing runway and install lighting.
“I am pleased that the funding will allow for the completion of this important expansion at Blackwell Field,” said Sessions. “The airport is critical to future economic development in the area.”
Ozark Mayor Bob Bunting said the extension will bring the runway out to 5,235 feet.
“This will allow corporate jets to land here safely and will support the expansion of U.S. Helicopter and other new aviation industries that are locating at Blackwell Field,” Bunting said.
