Information and tickets for touring Washington, DC

For those constituents visiting the Washington, D.C., area, my office can provide Congressional tour tickets for several of the area's attractions. Due to the heavy demand for tickets, please contact my office early to submit your request at least two months in advance. Tours are arranged on a first-come, first-served basis. Please remember when you are touring to carry a government issued ID such as a driver's license, as some places request it to verify you for a reserved tour.

Most of the attractions throughout Washington, D.C., including those listed here, provide public tours. Most tour tickets are free of charge. Please remember when you are touring to carry a government issued ID, as some places request it to verify you for a reserved tour. Also, when making arrangements to be someplace in Washington for a scheduled tour, please allow enough time for traffic and getting through security.

You can contact our office directly about your tour by filling out this form and submitting it.

U.S. Capitol tours are available through Congressman Ortiz’ office by appointment Monday through Friday.

The Library of Congress offers tours every 30 minutes, Monday through Friday.

The White House offers tours Tuesday through Saturday mornings only. Tour requests MUST be submitted to Congressman Ortiz 6-8 weeks in advance. There is a required minimum of 10 people per tour, all of who must provide Social security numbers (a requirement for the security at the White House). This tour is rarely approved due to the volume of requests from all congressional offices and the heightened security measures still in place since 9-11. Our office will do the best we can to accommodate your schedule. Please feel free to submit as early as 6 months in advance if you know you will be visiting here.

Supreme Court congressional tours can be arranged Monday through Friday but only at precisely 2 p.m. EST. This tour might be full on dates requested. You must stand in line by 1:45 for the 2pm tour.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing offers tours (mornings only, at 8:15 a.m. or 8:45 a.m.) from Monday through Friday; tour requests must be submitted 6-8 weeks in advance. Summer tours (May through August) are available at 4:00 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 4:45 p.m. This tour might be full on dates requested.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently closed for tours

The National Archives offers tours Monday through Saturday.

The National Cathedral offers tours every 30 minutes, every day of the week.

The Holocaust Museum offers tours every day of the week, which can be arranged through Congressman Ortiz’ office; the museum also has open line tours.

When you arrive in Washington, please stop by my office to let us know you are here. Congressman Ortiz' office can provide you with maps and pamphlets, or even passes to the House of Representatives and Senate Galleries, where you can observe the proceedings of the House or Senate.

Further information on visiting Washington D.C. can be found at the Visitor's Guide on the official U.S. House of Representatives homepage.
