SENATORS SANTORUM AND SPECTER ANNOUNCE TRANSPORTATION FUNDING FOR PENNSYLVANIA

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, and Arlen Specter (R-PA), a senior member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded grants for three transportation projects in Pennsylvania.
“I am pleased that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded funding to expand and improve our mass transit infrastructure,” Senator Santorum said. “It is important that Pennsylvania maintains and continues to modernize our mass transit systems in order to ensure safe throughout our state, create more efficient means of transportation, and sustain a robust economy. I am proud to have supported each of these projects in the transportation authorization and appropriations processes.”
“I am pleased that the Department of Transportation has recognized the importance of these transportation projects in Pennsylvania,” said Senator Specter. “These projects are necessary advancements to the state’s infrastructure and an important force for economic growth in our local communities. ”
Grants have been awarded for the following:
$5,455,312 awarded to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) for the Bucks County Intermodal Terminals Engineering & Design in Croydon and Levittown;
$1,967,357 awarded to the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority for the Easton Intermodal Terminal Lease in Easton;
$1,213,592 awarded to the River Valley Transit (formally Williamsport Bureau of Transportation) for the design and engineering of the Church Street Transportation Center and the Trade and Transit Center in Williamsport.
