"Croatia has made extraordinary strides in achieving democracy.
They have received candidate status and a date to start accession
talks with the European Commission. In addition, they are first in
line for the next round of NATO enlargement and are working closely
with the U.S. to finalize remaining preparations. The Caucus will
continue to support these endeavors and others to ensure they fulfill
their EU and NATO membership status.
It is critical that the United States continues to forge a strong
working relationship with this strategically located country in Central
Europe. Croatia is a country rich in history, culture and beauty and
has the potential to become a strong regional leader on security issues,
with immense opportunities in the tourism and trade industries.
Finally, the Caucus will further enhance the existing deep historical
and cultural links between Croatia and the U.S., starting from 1783
when the Republic of Dubrovnik recognized America's independence,
to the generations of migrants that have contributed to building our
nation's economic development and the fabric of modern day American
society."

"The
Croatian Caucus will be a powerful resource in forging a strong working
relationship between the U.S. and the Republic of Croatia and in helping
to promote mutual interests,” said NFCA President Ed Andrus. “Among
other relevant matters, the Caucus will support the endeavors of Croatia
as it works toward full membership in NATO and strives to establish
itself as a regional leader in Southcentral Europe."
