Our nation`s capital is without a doubt one of the most exciting cities in the world. There are museums, landmarks, monuments, and historic remembrances throughout this area, and I hope you can take time to visit many of them.
Understandably, the events of Sept 11, 2001 have changed the face of security and tourist access a great deal. However, that should not discourage you from visiting and enjoying Washington, DC. Many of the common tourist attractions have changed or updated their tourist times or access policies.

Be sure to contact the facility/agency directly to obtain the most up-to-date information, polices are being updated frequently and sometimes website information is not current.
Also be prepared for extensive security screenings when you enter buildings. Check with the specific agency/site to know what you can and cannot bring into their buildings.
The White House is available for tours in very limited numbers. Also the US Capitol has restricted hours, areas and access times for the general public.
