Small business in the United States accounts for 53% of the private workforce and 50% of the nation’s private gross domestic product (GDP). The innovation and competition resulting from small businesses significantly contribute to our country’s leadership in the global marketplace. I am fortunate to serve on the Committee on Small Business, since Kansas’ Third District outpaces these national statistics on small business’ contribution to our economy. I am keenly aware of the issues small business face and am committed to doing all I can to give small businesses the opportunity to flourish in the Third District.
