Due to the high volume of mail that I receive from people within my own 25th District, and as a professional courtesy to my colleagues, all correspondence from people outside of my district will be forwarded to the appropriate Member of Congress.

In order to expedite time-sensitive requests that require my help with federal agencies, if this applies to you, please put the word "Casework" in your e-mail's subject line. If you are writing to express your views on a specific issue, please mention it in your e-mail's subject line (i.e., "welfare reform" or "H.R. 1, the No Child Left Behind Act").

If you are traveling to Washington, DC, and would like to tour the Capitol and other attractions, please go to the "Constituent Services" section of my website and follow the instructions there instead of sending me an e-mail.

NOTE: As a consequence of the anthrax-contaminated mail sent to Congress in October of 2001, all postal mail that comes to my DC office now goes through a lengthy testing and screening process. This delays the mail's arrival and, hence, my response to it, significantly. Please allow 4-6 weeks for a response to your opinion letters and make sure that your federal agency requests are sent to one of my California offices.
