LINDER STATEMENT ON SECURE FENCE ACT
Washington, D.C. - Congressman John Linder issued the following statement regarding the signing of the Secure Fence Act:
“The President’s signature today is a great first step in America’s effort to combat illegal immigration. When you have a house full of flies, the first thing you do is close the window. We are beginning a similar process today with the passage of the Secure Fence Act.”
“House Republicans passed a good Border Security Bill last year and could not get it through the Senate. This year we brought the Senate to the table through a series of field hearings in 13 different states that let the American people illustrate the importance of closing our borders to illegal immigrants. The success of this bill truly belongs to the tenacity of the American people. I sincerely hope that House Republicans can count on the Senate to continue to see the dire need for more border security legislation and that America can build on the great foundation that the Secure Fence Act provides.”
