Dreier Applauds Continued Job Growth
Unemployment Rate At Lowest Level In Five Years

November 3, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas,CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, applauded today's Labor Department report indicating a strong and growing job market. The Labor Department announced that the unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent, the lowest level in 5 years. The Department also found that 92,000 jobs were created in October and job growth was higher than anticipated in August and September. He said the news today makes the case that Republican tax relief and pro-growth economic policies are working for the American people.

"Just in case there was any doubt, today's report makes it perfectly clear that tax relief is good for our economy and good for American workers. It's no accident that 6.8 million jobs have been created since we cut taxes in 2003. It's also no accident that this job growth has been widespread and accompanied by increased wages. The American people should know that Republicans want to keep this positive trend going by keeping taxes low. Democrats, on the other hand, want to increase taxes and halt this tremendous growth.

"The unemployment rate, deficit, and gas prices are falling and the stock market, job opportunities, and incomes are rising. These are the facts. They demonstrate very clearly - the Republican approach is working for America."
