Dreier Announces Relief Availability
for Curve, Williams Fire Victims

Small Business Administration Will Operate Out of
Dreier's District Office in Glendora

October 22, 2002

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas) announced today that the Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide disaster assistance to victims of the Angeles National Forest Curve Fire and Williams Fire. The SBA will be operating out of Congressman Dreier's district office for the application filing period that will last from October 24 - December 19, 2002.

"I am very pleased that the SBA has responded to our request for assistance for those who lost their homes in these fires," Dreier said. "We know that our cities could have suffered even greater damage had it not been for the dedication of our local fire departments, the U.S. Forest Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and all the emergency personnel involved. Now we can add the SBA to the core group of agencies we are continuing to work with to make sure homeowners can begin the process of rebuilding."

The SBA declared the areas affected by both the Curve and Williams fires as federal disaster areas. This declaration makes individuals who lost their homes and personal property eligible for up to $240,000 in federal assistance.

Congressman Dreier has opened his district office, located at 2220 East Route 66, Suite 225, in Glendora for the SBA to set up an application distribution center for victims of the fire. The application period will last for 60 days. Mr. Larry Eddy, Team Leader, SBA, will be at the district office during the 60-day filing period from October 24th - November 7th, and December 17th - 19th, Monday through Friday from 8AM - 12 Noon, and 1PM - 4:30PM, and on Saturdays, from 9AM - 12 Noon.

Anyone who needs to pick up an application packet, or needs assistance filling it out, should stop by to talk with Mr. Eddy, the SBA Representative. He can also be reached at Congressman Dreier's office via phone, 626-852-2626, during the dates listed.
