Dreier Lauds Strong Bipartisan Passage of Iraq Resolution
October 10, 2002
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following the bipartisan vote to approve H.J. Res. 114, Authorization For the Use of Force Against Iraq, today, Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, made the following statement:
"Today’s broad bipartisan vote in the House of Representatives demonstrates to the world with great clarity that this Congress stands with our President, with our men and women in uniform, and against the terrorist threat posed by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
" I cast my vote today aware that it may put lives at risk, but knowing that all the American people are all at risk if Saddam is not dealt with, and soon. I know it is the hope of everyone who voted today that war against Iraq will ultimately not be necessary. But if it is, our military will know they have the full support of their Congress, and the American people."
