Dreier Statement on Death of
Ambassador Walter Annenberg

October 1, 2002

WASHINGTON - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, made the following statement today regarding the death of Ambassador Walter Annenberg:

"America has lost a true patriot, business leader and philanthropist. Walter Annenberg spent his life helping others. Through public service, as Ambassador to the Court of St. James, his support of the arts and his commitment to improved education, he touched the lives of many he never knew.

"For me this is also a personal loss as Ambassador and Mrs. Annenberg have been longtime family friends. The advice, counsel and encouragement they provided me for many years has been invaluable.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to Lee Annenberg and all of the members of Ambassador Annenberg's family."
