Dreier Statement on House Approval of Motion to Go to Conference on Trade Promotion Authority
June 26, 2002
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, made the following statement today following the House vote to go to conference with the Senate on trade issues:
"The House took an important step forward today to create jobs, promote economic growth, and expand our global leadership worldwide. We cannot sit on the sidelines of trade talks any longer. It’s imperative we get down to serious negotiations with the Senate, work out an agreement, and get trade promotion authority to President Bush as soon as we possibly can. Let’s focus on what’s important here, and that’s expanding trade opportunities for American businesses, farmers, and workers.”
