Congressman Dreier seeks veterans for Veterans History Project

June 17, 2004

Congressman Dreier would like to extend an invitation to all veterans residing in the 26th Congressional District to participate in a national effort to collect personal accounts of all veterans. The goal of the Veterans History Project, sponsored by the Library of Congress, is to collect and preserve photographs, audio and videotaped oral histories, along with documentary materials of America's veterans.

"I sincerely hope that veterans throughout our community will participate in this program," Dreier said. "Providing their first hand accounts of our nation's struggles on behalf of liberty and freedom would be a tremendous gift. Our staff is ready and willing to listen to their stories and record them. Or, they can help families determine how they can record the history of their own veterans. As the recent dedication of the World War II Memorial showed us, our veterans have many stories to tell. We are all waiting to hear them and preserve them for future generations."

All veterans in the 26th District who are interested in participating in the project should contact Donna Jimenez or Julie Sullivan at 626-852-2626.
