Dreier Announces Youth Volunteer Award Program

March 30, 2004

Congressman David Dreier (R-Glendora) announced today that applications are now available for his annual Youth Volunteer Award. Young people between the ages of 14 and 18, who reside in the 26th Congressional District and have an active record of volunteer service are encouraged to apply.

Dreier stated, “Each year I have the privilege of honoring these young volunteers and it is always exciting to see the level responsibility and commitment they give to our community. Far too often teenagers are not recognized for the good work they have done and my goal is to make sure that they receive the recognition they deserve.”

Applications are available in Congressman Dreier's district office at 2220 East Route 66, Suite 225, Glendora. Those interested in applying must complete an application documenting their volunteer service, write a 250-500 word essay describing the benefits of his/her service to the community, submit one letter of reference, and have an informal interview with the Award Council.

The applications are due in Congressman Dreier's district office located at 2220 East Route 66, Suite 225, Glendora, CA 91740 by 5:00 P.M., on Friday, April 16, 2004. Each candidate's application will be evaluated by the Award Council on the basis of the applicant's ongoing commitment, responsibility, and dedication toward a volunteer activity.

The 26th Congressional District includes the following cities in which all applicants must reside: Arcadia, Bradbury, Charter Oak, Claremont, Glendora, La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, La Verne, Monrovia, Montclair, Montrose, Rancho Cucamonga, San Antonio Heights, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Upland, Walnut, Wrightwood and parts of Altadena, Pasadena and San Gabriel.
