Dreier Statement on Beginning
of Military Action in Iraq

March 19, 2003

Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, issued the following statement tonight in reaction to the beginning of military action in Iraq:

"President Bush has called our armed forces into action tonight to disarm Saddam Hussein. Our thoughts and prayers are with these men and women as they carry out their duty.

"As the President said tonight, this action may prove long and difficult. But its goal is both just and necessary. With the support of our allies, we will move forward with decisive action to liberate the Iraqi people and once and for all rid the world of the threat Saddam has posed for far too long."
