Dreier Calls for Inquiry Into Postal Service Delivery Problems
February 8, 2006
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today asked House Government Reform Chairman Tom Davis (R-VA) to look into reports of mail delivery problems in communities along the Foothills. Responding to local complaints about erratic and unpredictable mail service, Congressman Dreier sent a letter to Davis asking him to address the concerns of local residents and business owners. Similar reports of irregular mail service in the greater Los Angeles area prompted the Government Reform Committee to announce that it will hold a hearing on the issue.
"Local businesses and residential customers depend on reliable pick-up and delivery times from the Postal Service to get things done," Dreier said. "When bills are late and letters are delivered to the wrong address, it’s not just an inconvenience, it costs time and money. Predictable service is essential, and if the quality of mail service is not improved it becomes problematic, especially for small business owners. I have the utmost confidence in Chairman Davis’s ability to conduct thorough oversight and get to the bottom of these disruptive practices."
