Dreier Statement on President’s Proposed Budget
February 7, 2005
WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, issued the following statement today in reaction to President Bush’s proposed budget:
“The arrival of the President’s proposal marks the beginning of the budget process. I believe his proposal lays out a balanced framework, recognizing the need for fiscal responsibility and strong economic growth policies at the same time. We are obviously in tough budget times, and our primary focus needs to be on our military and the ongoing war against terror.
“As the process moves forward, I look forward to working with the Administration and my colleagues to address the needs of California relating to transportation, SCAAP funding, and other priorities. I commend the President for a strong starting point on potential transportation projects. We know we have a challenging road ahead, but working together, we will prioritize and do the hard work necessary to bring down the deficit and grow the economy.”
