Dreier, CA Delegation Ask for
Expedited Disaster Declaration
February 1 , 2005
WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, along with a bipartisan group of his California colleagues, sent a letter to President Bush today requesting that he approve the recent federal disaster declaration request from California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as expeditiously as possible. Governor Schwarzenegger made the request in the wake of severe winter storms that caused devastating flooding and mudslides throughout California.
“In the wake of this tragedy, Californians are working together in a bipartisan way to ensure our constituents have the resources they need to rebuild their businesses and their lives,” Dreier said. “I believe the President will work with Governor Schwarzenegger and the bipartisan delegation in Congress to see that California gets what it needs to recover from these horrific storms.”
The federal disaster declaration will assist the state in moving forward with its own assistance efforts, as well as begin the process of rebuilding homes and businesses affected by the storm. A copy of the letter is attached.
