| | | | The Federal government’s success in preventing another catastrophic attack on the American homeland since September 11, 2001 would have been much more difficult, if not impossible, without the PATRIOT Act. The authority the Act provides have substantially enhanced our ability to prevent, investigate, and prosecute acts of terror.
The PATRIOT Act was a long overdue measure to close gaping holes in the government's ability to collect vital intelligence information on the global terrorist network and protect Americans from another September 11, 2001 attack. The Act was supported overwhelmingly by the American people and was passed 98-1 by the Senate and 357-66 by the House.
