 Travis County FEMA Floodplain Map

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released new floodplain maps that identify risk areas associated with heavy rains in the Austin-Hill Country region. FEMA’s remapping of the floodplains in Travis County is part of the agency’s nationwide effort to revise the maps to more accurately show where floods are likely to occur. Local governments rely on the maps to manage development, and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) uses the maps for flood insurance purposes.

The new maps might affect your property in Travis County. The owners of affected properties need to take advantage of floodplain insurance rates before the maps are adopted by local government officials. For more information and to determine if your property is in a floodplain, please visit the City of Austin’s website or Travis County’s website. You may also contact your insurance representative or my Austin District Office at 512-402-9743.
