Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) gave the following floor speech today:

“Mr. Speaker, we launched into a war based on lies and have an Administration lost in ideological fantasy. The Administration is stubbornly ignoring the advice of commanders, and getting ready for the next war. We have a President who refuses to see a situation collapsing around 130,000 young men and women who he sent into battle.

“The Administration’s so-called ‘war on terror’ has become a war of errors.

“This Administration has undermined our security around the world and here at home. A national security state has emerged. Our government is immersed in lying, spying and dying.

“It is time for a new direction.

“It is time for a new direction in international relations. Achieving security through cooperation. Time for a new direction here at home. Time for Medicare for All. Time for a new direction in job creation and infrastructure improvements. Time for a new direction.

“We are homeward bound America. We are coming home to take care of things that matter to people here at home. Jobs, health care and education. Time for a new direction.”
