KINGSTON JOINS HOUSE LEADERSHIP AT IMMIGRATION FORUM
“We Will Not Have Real Homeland Security Until We Have Real Border Security.”

Washington, Sep 12 -

WASHINGTON—Today U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Savannah), vice chairman of the Republican Conference and member of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, joined the Speaker of the House and other top Republican leaders at an immigration forum.

This afternoon’s forum received reports and testimony from Congressional Committee Chairmen who have held over 20 hearings across the country this summer. Also, recommendations were made to Congressional leaders about legislation and other action that could be considered by Congress before the end of the year.

“Real border security and illegal immigration enforcement without amnesty should be our top priority in Congress. It’s time we put clarity in the law; up till now we’ve been enforcing immigration policy randomly.” Kingston said.

“This year, Congress has already made a good start by passing the REAL ID Act, ending the ‘catch and release’ policy along the border, and deploying the National Guard to help our border patrol agents,” Kingston continued. “Now we need to take the next step by passing the funding necessary to secure our borders with fences, vehicle barriers, sensors, cameras and more border patrol agents until we can know for sure who is coming across our borders and why. We will not have real homeland security until we have real border security.”
