Who Can Apply?

The internship is unpaid and students are not required to be from Ohio.

When Are Internships Available?

Part-time and full-time internships are available throughout the year. In order to earn college credit, students must commit to at least 10 hours per week. Housing cannot be provided so applicants are encouraged to consider their housing needs early.

Where Are Internships Offered?

Interns are placed in our Washington, DC office and our district office, located in Toledo.

What Activities Does An Intern Perform?

Interns in my Washington, DC office work closely with the professional staff on a variety of legislative projects. Responsibilities include attending hearings, preparing legislative reports, researching specific issues and compiling information to respond to constituents' inquiries. Some clerical work is also required. Interns learn the legislative process and gain valuable hands on experience. Interns learn the workings of a Congressional office and have the ability to network on the Hill.

Students with a particular interest in trade, economics, and community development are encouraged to apply.

Interns in my district offices concentrate on researching constituent inquiries for information and help in dealing with federeal agencies. In addition, interns accompany district staff to meetings of local civic and professional organizations. Some clerical work is expected.

Where Will I Live?

Summer intern housing is available in university dormitories and year-round in rental apartments in the surrounding area.

How Do I Apply?

Interns are selected on the basis of written work and a personal interview.  Please submit a current resume and two writing samples:
