Dreier Hails Higher Wages and Continued Job Growth
October 6 , 2006
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas,CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, hailed reports of continued job growth during September 2006, when 51,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.6 percent. September was the 37th consecutive month of job growth. Since August 2003, 6.6 million jobs have been created. Additionally, the average hourly earnings for American workers grew four percent over the last year. Real after-tax income has risen 15 percent since January 2001.
"Our economy, fueled by hard working Americans and Republican pro-growth polices, continues to create more jobs and bigger paychecks from coast to coast. Unemployment is incredibly low, gas prices have plummeted, wages are growing and the stock market is at an all-time high. It just goes to show that when taxes are low and government regulations light, opportunity and prosperity results. Republicans have stood with American workers by passing tax relief and slashing the federal deficit."
