Thank you for visiting my website to find out more information about me and my responsibilities as your congressional representative.  I take pride in representing the people from the 44th Congressional District of California.  Our youths will play a vital role in the future of the United States.  I encourage you to surf my website to learn more about me, Congress and important issues facing our nation.

Below are some frequently asked questions and answers that I hope will help you in your research about me and Congress.

Q: What is your full name?

A: Kenneth Stanton Calvert

Q: When were you born?

A: I was born on June 8, 1953 and raised in Corona, California.

A: Yes, I have two brothers who are twins.

Q:  What is your favorite food?

A:  A New York strip steak cooked medium rare.

Q:  Where did you go to school?

A: I attended neighborhood public schools and graduated from Corona High School in 1971.  After high school, I enrolled at Chaffey College in Alta Loma for two years and then continued my studies at San Diego State University, where I graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Q: Did you have a favorite subject in school?

A:  History

Q:  What did you do before you became a Congressman?

A:  I was a small business owner in the restaurant and real estate industries.  My family owned and operated a family restaurant.  I have a real estate company called Calvert Real Properties in downtown Corona which is now operated by my brother.

Q: In history, who is your favorite President and why?

A: My favorite President is Abraham Lincoln because he maintained the Union.

Q:  Have you always been interested in politics?  What made you decide to run for Congress?

A:  It is everyone’s responsibility to be engaged in politics in one form or another, especially in exercising their civic responsibility to vote.  The United States is the greatest nation in the world and is an example for countries seeking the same kind of democracy that we cherish.  That is something to get excited about.

I have been involved in politics for most of my life.  I volunteered for several Republican candidates including former President Ronald Reagan and former California Governor Pete Wilson.  California has a lot to offer and I wanted to make sure that the needs of all Californians were represented to our Federal government.  I grew up in Corona, my family has been involved in the Riverside County community for years and I ran for Congress because I wanted to serve the area and give back to my home.

Q:  When were you first elected to Congress?

A:  After an initial attempt to run for Congress in 1982, I was first elected in 1992.

Members of the House of Representatives are elected every two years for a two-year term.  Currently, there are no term limits for Members of Congress.  I am currently serving my seventh term in the House.

Q:  Do you plan to retire?  If so, what will do you afterwards?

A:  I do not plan to retire any time soon.  When I do retire, I plan to return to the real estate investment industry.

Q:  How many Congressional representatives does California have?

A:  California has 53 Congressional representatives which is more than any other state.  I represent the 44th Congressional District.
