I am proud to provide assistance for all residents of the 44th Congressional District that may be need help working with a federal agency or department.

What is a Federal Agency?
Federal agencies are organizations that are part of the federal government.  If you are unsure if your problem relates to a federal agency, I encourage you to visit the White House’s list of federal agencies at http://www.whitehouse.gov/government/independent-agencies.html.  Examples of some federal agencies include:
• Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
• Social Security Administration (SSA)
• Department of Veterans Affairs
• Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services
If you are experiencing trouble or have an issue with a federal agency, my district office may be able to facilitate the process, ensure your rights are respected, or have errors in procedure corrected.

Requesting Assistance
The Privacy Act of 1974, 5 USC § 552  requires written authorization to pursue an issue on your behalf with a federal agency or department.  Therefore, please complete and provide my Riverside District Office with a Congressional Casework Authorization Form along with pertinent photocopies of any correspondence, applications or other information that maybe helpful in understanding and assist with your case.  This information will be helpful in determining the course of action to be taken.  Please remember to sign and date the form, as an original signature must appear on the authorization form.

After you have completed the form, please return it to my Riverside District Office located at:
3400  Central Avenue, Suite 200
Riverside, CA 92560
(951) 784-4300
As soon as the information is received a congressional inquiry will be initiated on your behalf.  Due to the complexity of each case response time from federal agencies may vary.

NOTE: Please keep in mind, my office acts as a liaison and can not circumvent federal laws or regulations. Due to separation of federal, state and judicial powers under the Constitution, there are certain areas in which my office can not intervene.

As a United States Congressman, I do not have jurisdiction over judicial matters such as:
• Child custody
• Divorce
• Criminal trials or imprisonment
Nor can I interfere with California state agencies such as:
• Child support
• Motor vehicle registration or loss of license
• Welfare
• State taxes
For any of the above problems, please contact your State Senator or State Assemblyman.
