SHADEGG JOINS CALL FOR PRESIDENT TO RELEASE NIE REPORT
Rep. Shadegg – “The American people deserve to see the information in its entirety, not just the politically spun excerpts of what the cut-and-run crowd wants them to hear.”
Washington,
Sep 26 -
As Democrats in Washington continue to try to score political points with the classified National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) that addresses the serious threat of global terrorism, Congressman John Shadegg (R-AZ), in a letter to President Bush, joined the call to declassify the report.
“Playing politics with leaked excerpts of a classified intelligence report is unconscionable,” said Shadegg, the former House Policy Committee Chairman. “Once again, Democrats in Washington have put their political ambitions above our national security.”
Congressman Shadegg’s letter follows the efforts of Senator Pat Roberts, the Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman, who also wrote to President Bush asking for the public release of the NIE. The White House has clarified that the report is much more complex in nature and does not state that the war in Iraq has enhanced the terrorist threat that America faces.
“The American people deserve to see the information its entirety, not just the politically spun excerpts of what the cut-and-run crowd wants them to hear. The American people deserve to know the truth.”
Congressman Shadegg is the former Chairman of the House Policy Committee.
