Wauseon Native to Serve as Rep. Gillmor’s Page through January

WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman Paul E. Gillmor (R- Tiffin) has announced that Heaven Randolph of Wauseon, Ohio began her service as a Republican Page on September 5th and will continue serving through January 26, 2007.

Heaven Randolph is currently a Junior at Pettisville High School, a Federal Blue Ribbon No Child Left Behind Recipient. In her model school district, Heaven carries a 3.77 cumulative grade point average and ranks near the top of her class. Heaven is a Teacher’s Aide and a member of both the Spanish Club and Junior Varsity Volleyball. Heaven has also been an active community leader as a member of Girl Scouts, president of her church youth group and volunteer at the Cherry Street Mission.

Congressman Paul E. Gillmor (R-Tiffin) meets with his new Republican Page Heaven Randolph of Wauseon, Ohio. This is also not Heaven’s first trip to the nation’s capitol. As an FFA Committee Chairman, she has attended both the State FFA Convention in Columbus, Ohio and the National FFA Convention in Washington, D.C.

“Heaven’s work in and out of school is a testament to the character required to be a Republican Page,” Gillmor said. “I am confident that Heaven brings the morals and ideals of the Fifth District to Washington and I know she will find her time at the Capitol to be valuable to her future,” Gillmor continued.

Gillmor said that one of the deciding factors in Heaven’s selection as a Republican Page were the strong letters of recommendation praising her sense of responsibility and duty. In a letter of recommendation to Rep. Gillmor, one of Heaven’s teachers wrote, “I know that Heaven has the potential to achieve greatness in her life. Rarely does a student with such personality and a desire to learn grace the classroom. We are fortunate to have Heaven here at Pettisville, and you will be fortunate too. By allowing Heaving into your Page program, you are receiving an outgoing, determined, hardworking young woman.”

The page program has been in existence in some form since 1827. During the summer, the work of a page begins at 9:00 a.m. and extends until 6:30 p.m. or when the House adjourns for the day. House pages may live in the Page Residence Hall near the U.S. Capitol Building.
