109th Congress - 2nd Session
Committee on Homeland Security
Markup: DHS Authorization

Wednesday, July 19, 2006
10 a.m., 311 Cannon House Office Building

Chairman Peter T. King will convene a Full Committee markup to consider U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) authorizing legislation.  In recent months, the Committee has successfully completed work on several important issues, including strengthening our Nation’s port security and emergency management.  This authorization bill will serve as a focused approach to oversight of the Department.  Main issues covered by the authorization include: management restructuring, intelligence and information sharing, TSA jurisdiction expansion, and a risk-based approach to reforming DHS grant formulas.
