Transit Security Training Procedures

On Thursday, September 28, 2006, the Subcommittee on Economic Security, Infrastructure
Protection and Cybersecurity will convene a hearing to examine the security training
programs for mass transit and freight rail personnel across the country. Security training for
employees covers a wide array of topics: from suspicious activity recognition to emergency
response and passenger assistance. The hearing will focus on the roles and responsibilities
of the Federal government in providing training programs and the efforts undertaken by the
industry to train their employees. Further, the hearing will examine the scope, relevance and
adequacy of these programs and what can be done to improve upon them.
