Capito Secures $1.6 Million for High Tech Jobs in Braxton County

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito has secured $1.6 million in the Department of Defense funding bill, approved last night by the U.S. House, to provide for high tech jobs in Braxton County.  The money will be used to provide 25 jobs at Triune Software for work at the new Braxton County Technology Building in Flatwoods.

"This money will help build a foundation for high-tech jobs in Braxton County," Capito said.  "I look forward to continuing to work with local leaders and small businesses to bring good jobs to central West Virginia."

The $1.6 million will be used on the EXODUS project, a high tech software system that will allow the Air Force to retain critical information as they experience a high turnover in their civilian workforce.  Nearly 40 percent of Air Force civilian workers will be eligible to retire over the next five years, making it important that information be stored and efficiently shared between multiple bases so that knowledge is not lost.

Congresswoman Capito has previously worked with the Braxton County Development Authority and local leaders to secure funding from the Economic Development Administration to construct the tech building.  The congresswoman also secured funding in last year's Defense spending bill to begin work on the EXODUS project.  Capito attended a ribbon cutting for the technology building last month in Flatwoods.
