Hinojosa Hosts Agriculture Town Hall

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) joined Congressman Collin Peterson (MN-07), Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee, for a town hall meeting with local farmers and ranchers to discuss the upcoming reauthorization of the Farm Bill and emergency, disaster assistance legislation.  The town hall was attended by agriculture producers and interested parties including irrigators, bankers, insurance agents and growers.

Today, Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15), fellow members of Congress and industry leaders from national corporations participated in a roundtable discussion during the 5th Annual Hispanic Engineering, Science & Technology Week (HESTEC). The roundtable, moderated by Jose Diaz-Balart of Telemundo’s “Cada Dia,” and held at the University of Texas Pan-American, focused on increasing investment from the private sector in encouraging Hispanic students to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In addition, the roundtable looked at how the federal government can increase resources for programs that work to increases students’ interest in these fields.
