Internships

Washington, D.C.

My Washington, D.C. internship program is designed to give students “hands-on” experience in a Congressional office. The program enables the participant to experience first-hand the operations of a Congressional office and gain a unique perspective on the legislative process.

During the internship, the student will perform a host of duties associated with the day-to-day operations of the office. Interns are also encouraged to further their learning experience by attending briefings, committee hearings, press conferences and other relevant events on Capitol Hill.

Internships are not monetarily compensated, nor do student interns receive a living or transportation stipend. Student interns do receive collegiate credit. The amount of credit awarded is based on the program requirements of the individual college or university.

If you are interested in applying for an internship, please send the following information to my Washington, D.C. office:

  1. Cover letter and current resume.
  2. Outline of the intern program requirements for your college or university.
  3. Dates you would be available to intern (summer, fall, or winter/spring semester).
  4. One page summary of your expectations, interests and future plans as they relate to the internship experience

Due to mail delays associated with security precautions on Capitol Hill, please fax or e-mail applications to the attention of Mary Stundebeck at (202)226-5737 or mary.stundebeck@mail.house.gov.
