My staff is available to assist constituents
throughout the State of Maryland in helping to resolve individual
problems with Federal Agencies including the Social
Security Administration, Bureau
of Citizenship and Immigration Services, Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department
of Veterans Affairs, Office
of Personnel Management, and Internal
Revenue Service among others.
Pursuant to the Privacy Act of 1974, you must provide a signed
written request explaining the nature of your problem or a
signed privacy release form to enable staff to make an official
inquiry on your behalf. The purpose of the Privacy Act is
to ensure the protection of your individual rights by prohibiting
the release of personal information about you to unauthorized
parties.

Sarbanes, due to the lengthy processing procedures, we will
be unable to process requests for flying flags.
SERVICE
ACADEMY NOMINATIONS
Senator Sarbanes
is pleased to have the opportunity to be part of the process
that enables motivated and talented young men and women in
the State of Maryland to compete for consideration of a nomination
and appointment to the United States Military Academies. In
order to be considered for an appointment to any of the four
service academies – Air Force, Merchant Marine, Military
or Naval, an applicant must have a nomination from an authorized
nominating source which includes the Vice-President, Senators
and Congressional Representatives. A Congressional nomination
is not required for an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy
and interested applicants should contact the Academy directly.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen on the day of admission,
be at least 17 years old, but not have passed the 23rd birthday
as of July 1st as of the year of admission and be unmarried,
not pregnant and have no legal obligation to support dependents.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The application process in the office of Senator Sarbanes
begins in the spring of the junior year by requesting the
application packet. Information required by our office as
part of this process includes the following:
Application Form with photograph and statements
Three letters of recommendation
Official transcript of grades through the junior year
SAT scores
Affidavit of Residence
COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER
THAN OCTOBER 13, 2006 IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CONSIDERATION.
Also as part of the process, an interview is required and
these are held in mid-November. Applicants are notified of
the place, date and time by letter.

MIKULSKI AND TO THEIR REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS.
