Hayworth: "U.S. Unemployment Down to 4.4%"
Unemployment numbers are lowest since before September 11th terrorist attacks
(Scottsdale, Arizona) Congressman J.D Hayworth (R-AZ) commented today on economic numbers that show unemployment has dropped to 4.4%, its lowest point since May of 2001.
"We have fought long and hard to provide an environment that fosters growth and stymies unemployment. I believe we've done that," says Rep. Hayworth.
October employment data indicates that more than 92,000 jobs were added to the workforce, while August and September numbers were revised after receiving more accurate statistics. The Labor Department said 48,000 more jobs were created in August than originally thought, increasing the total number from 188,000 to 230,000. September saw its employment figures nearly triple to 148,000, up from an original figure of 51,000. All in all, 139,000 more jobs were created in August and September than previously reported.
In addition, the American worker's hourly earnings went up more than expected, rising 0.4 percent to $16.91. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 3.9 percent.
"The American economic engine is running full steam ahead. Unemployment is at a five-year low, gas prices are down, worker earnings are up, and the stock market is at an all-time high. You should never interrupt a good thing, but that's just what Democrats intend to do. Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues have said that tax increases are coming. This failed policy would literally take money out of the pockets of hard-working Americans and put it in the hands of tax and spend bureaucrats."
