After Monroe Anderson Clay (1918-1983) passed away over twenty years ago, his family never found the military medals and honors he had earned throughout his service in World War II. On Wednesday, May 31st, Congressman Barrow presented Mr. Clay’s daughter with replacements for all the lost military medals.
His daughter, Carol Brady Fonvielle of Savannah, decided to contact Congressman Barrow (D-Savannah) last October in hopes of receiving replacement medals that she could pass on to her son, Mr. Clay’s grandson, William Clay Fonvielle. Congressman Barrow’s office worked with the National Personnel Records Center to get replacements for all of Mr. Clay’s lost medals.
The medal presentation took place at American Legion Post #184 in Thunderbolt.
