Frelinghuysen and Top Medicare Official Discuss New Prescription Drug Benefit with Local Seniors
Sponsored by the respective hospitals, Frelinghuysen and Norwalk led discussions with seniors about how to sign up for the new benefit beginning November 15. Once enrolled, the Congressman and Ms. Norwalk emphasized that nearly 40 million Medicare beneficiaries, including 1.2 million New Jerseyans, will be able to choose a prescription drug plan that best meets their individual health needs and offers the most affordable drug benefits. Medicare s prescription drug program officially starts January 1, 2006.
Prescription Drug Coverage - A Medicare First
Starting January 1, 2006, Medicare will now include voluntary prescription drug coverage for seniors. Formally known as Medicare Part "D," this new prescription drug benefit is expected to do more to reduce drug prices for seniors than any other reform ever enacted into law.
