CONGRESSMAN YOUNG SPEAKS AGAINST NORTH KOREA’S NUCLEAR WEAPONS TESTING |
Washington, D.C. – Alaska Congressman Don Young today issued the following statement in regards to North Korea’s claim of having successfully tested a nuclear weapons launch. "I am deeply concerned about North Korea’s brazen claim to have successfully tested a nuclear weapon. This is not something that we should take lightly; such a claim of this magnitude constitutes a threat to our international peace and security," said Congressman Young. "It is critical that we support the President and our diplomats as they work with other members of the international community to demand North Korea’s immediate disarmament, and get them back on board with the six party talks. This reckless and calculated behavior by the North Korean regime also speaks to the importance of the strategically placed U.S. missile defense capabilities in the State of Alaska. These forces guard this nation and are first responders against weapons of mass destruction. |
