Congressman Dent comments on verdict in Saddam Hussein’s trial

U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent today called the guilty verdict for Saddam Hussein a victory for justice in Iraq and in the world community.

“The Iraqi people have passed an important milestone today, as a court of law has found Saddam Hussein guilty for decades of brutality, tyranny and crimes against humanity. Iraq is transforming itself from a nation of fear to a nation of laws, and this verdict is a lynchpin in that evolution.

“In the words of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, this is a verdict not just on Saddam, but on a ‘dark era in Iraq’s history.’ It is my hope this verdict shows the Iraqi people they can move forward to a much brighter future.”
