Committee to Hold Hearing on Crude Oil Pricing

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has scheduled a full committee hearing for Thursday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building entitled, “World Crude Oil Pricing.”

Witnesses expected to testify are Guy Caruso, administrator of the Energy Information Agency, Dr. Daniel Yergin, president of Cambridge Energy Research Associates and Pulitzer Prize winner for his book, The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power, and Bob Levin, research director for the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).

The hearing will take a broad look at world oil prices and what is affecting them. The witnesses are expected to talk about supply and demand and the geopolitical issues that have caused the escalation in crude oil prices. It is also expected that the witnesses will discuss the U.S. and global trading markets and how they’re affected by geopolitical events.
