Committee Discovers More Documents; Seeks Answers from BP, Alaska Officials
The bipartisan leadership of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee on Friday asked Bob Malone, chairman and president of BP America, and Kurt Fredriksson, commissioner of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, to answer questions related to a compliance order issued in 2002 that addressed many of BP's recent pipeline problems.
Several of the issues contained in the order appear directly related to the spills on the Prudhoe Bay Western Operating Line and the Prudhoe Bay Eastern Operating Line that were the subject of a hearing by the committee on Sept. 7.
The letter is available in PDF format.
