Services: The Nebraska Breakfast

The Nebraska Breakfast originated in 1943. It was the idea of U.S. Senator Hugh Butler, who wanted to meet informally each week to discuss legislation with other members of the Nebraska Congressional delegation. Members of the Nebraska delegation began inviting guests to the weekly gatherings, and soon a tradition was born.

The Nebraska Breakfast, now in its sixth decade, is the oldest and only ongoing state gathering for constituents on Capitol Hill. Every Wednesday morning when the House and Senate are both in session, Nebraskans visiting the Nation's Capitol can meet and visit with their Nebraska Congressional Delegation. The breakfast is usually held in the Dirksen Senate Office Building south cafeteria at 8:00 a.m.

Please contact any of the members of the Nebraska Congressional Delegation at least a day in advance to make a reservation and confirm the location of the breakfast. The cost of the continental breakfast is $6.84 per person. All Nebraskans visiting Washington, D.C., and their guests, are welcome to attend the Nebraska Breakfast.
