Senator Clinton's Thanksgiving 2003 trip to
Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and Pakistan
Dear Friend,
As you may know, I spent the Thanksgiving holiday weekend visiting U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq with a delegation led by Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island. As a West Point graduate and former paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, Senator Reed was ideally suited to lead the delegation. Our goal was to express our support for the troops and their mission, and also learn about the situation on the ground in both countries. Throughout the trip, I was impressed with the men and women in uniform that I met serving in both nations. And I was particularly proud of the troops I met from New York. I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you some of my thoughts and observations on each day of the trip.
