Academy nominations

Junior and senior high school students as well as high school graduates under the age of 23 can apply to Senator Nelson’s office for a nomination to a service academy. The academies include the Military Academy at West Point, NY, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs CO, the Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. The Coast Guard Academy at New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

For students interested in obtaining a Congressional nomination for the class entering in the Summer of 2007, the application process will begin on April 3, 2006.

Monday, April 3, 2006
Application process opens.
Saturday, October 7, 2006
Postmark deadline for file completion. Deadline for submission of information. Applications sent to office locations other than the Orlando office may cause delays in processing. Submit only completed applications.
Tuesday, October 24, 2006
Interview notices mailed.
Thursday, November 16, 2006
Personal interview.
Wednesday, December 20, 2006
Nominee notification of status by mail begins.
